What's in the course?

This introductory Sunday course for hobby photographers and beginners is led by international bestselling travel photographer and editor of Outdoor Photography magazine Steve Watkins, and features a session with digital processing experts. The course is designed to help you to develop confidence in enhancing and printing your photos, as well as giving you great insights into how to turn your holiday photos into stunning photo books and calendars.

The course will cover the best options for photography software currently on the market (including some that are free of charge), give you an introduction to the fundamentals of enhancing your images, offer an overview of the amazing ways you can now share your images with friends and family, including on sites such as Facebook and Flickr, and advice on how to start your own photography blog or website.

Sessions are extensively illustrated with clear and insightful presentations featuring inspiring imagery, and are designed to engender an informative and encouraging atmosphere. The tutors are top professionals who willingly share their experience and expertise to make sure that you go away with increased confidence in making the most of all your digital travel photos.

This is Day 2 of our weekend for hobby photographers, and it works on its own. You might also like Day 1, Take Better Travel Photos (see below).

NB: This course does not give detailed training in Photoshop or other photography software.

  • Steve Watkins, the editor of Outdoor Photographer magazine. A top travel photographer of 20 year's standing, Steve has photographed worldwide for the bestselling BBC books series "Unforgettable Walks To Take Before You Die", and is photographic director of the Travellers Tales Festival.

A personal assessment of your pictures, available only to Travellers' Tales students. This one-to-one service is provided online after the course, at your own convenience. Simply add a critique to your shopping cart (right) and you can email us 12 of your favourite travel photos after the course. Our expert tutors will return a detailed written critique within two weeks.

Getting there
  • Our venues are in central London, with good public transport links. Off-street parking is not available.
  • Full joining instructions will be emailed to you a fortnight before the course. We do not give out our venue names until after booking.
  • Sessions run from 1015-1700 each day. Doors open at 1000 and classes start promptly.
