... are due to the following Travellers' Tales old hands, none of whom have been published before:

Neil Matthews who won the Unpublished Writer category in the Independent On Sunday's travel writing competition. Neil's story was a moving visit to the heart of Berlin, past and present, culminating at the Holocaust memorial. This is the second year running the IoS competition has been won by one of our friends – last year the overall winner was TT veteran Louise Heal, who is currently writing a book on southern India.

Rosie Casburn who has been taken on as a regular columnist by Levante Lifestyle magazine. Inspired by her third TT course, Rosie boldly walked into the editor's office at this expat magazine in Andalucia, where she lives, and showed them her photos and stories – and they loved them!

Valerie Collins whose memoir of life as a tour group leader and living in Italy has just been published by Pegasus. Spirit Of The Dolomites is her first book, with others to follow, she promises. Details are on her website at

Joan Waller who has been commissioned by Bradt Guides to write a guidebook in China – she's out there researching it right now! Joan is in her seventies, but has done four courses with us and was shortlisted for the Independent On Sunday travel writing competition last year. It just shows the power of persistence....

And finally huge congrats to ace photography tutor Steve Watkins, who met Sarah Gooding when she attended our Marrakech And Atlas Mountains week last spring – and made an honest woman of her this September. But does she know what she's taken on?

Travel writing holiday in Marrakech

"It has been an extraordinary experience to watch people grow and their confidence blossom" - BBC presenter David Stafford

Radio 4 devoted a half-hour programme to our Marrakech travel writing weekend last year. Hearing it is a good way to find out what it's like to be on any Travellers' Tales course. You might even pick up some insider tips for free!

Recorded in Marrakech, the programme includes interviews with course participants, teaching sessions in our traditional riad, and writing sessions in the city's sites and souks.

Here's the programme, from Radio 4's Excess Baggage series:
