"A lovely, informal atmosphere, with top-notch professional advice.” – Lucy

DISCOVER how to write travel articles, guidebooks and blogs.

EXPLORE what editors want and how to approach them.

LEARN creative tricks from works by favourite authors.

ADD ON a personal critique service on your writing.

What's in the course?

This quick and practical seminar offers a wide-ranging introduction to travel writing that sells. Focusing on travel articles and guidebooks, it offers the experts' view on how to write well and get your work published. To ease your path, the day also looks at two 'soft-entry' points – blogging and competitions – which can help you to break into the market.

Sessions are led by a panel of top editors and journalists, giving the inside track on how to write and pitch successfully. The seminar does not include writing practice sessions, but does cover the key topics of how to write more powerfully, how to structure an article, how the market works for articles and guidebooks, examples of good style by top professionals, a recommended reading list, and advice on your next steps.

This rarely available service can be invaluable in improving your work. It is delivered online, so can be accessed in your own time. It is particualrly useufl as a way of putting into practice what you have learnt at the seminar.

How does it work? All you have to do is add the service at the time of purchase and then, once you have attended the seminar, we will email you with instructions. Then you email us a piece of your writing, and we email you our practical and constructive comments. The piece can have a maximum length of 800 words, and we will aim to return a written critique within two weeks.
